memorial weekend and demo~

I hope that everyone had a nice and relaxing Memorial Day weekend! We have been busy in between the rain, the wind and work; we have managed to tear down the shed and finished getting that all cleaned up today.

When I was cleaning things up today, the floor of the shed was lined with old linoleum and under that was this....

NEWSPAPER from 1965! It was fun to see what was in the paper in 1965! Check out the washer!

Saturday's, "art in the park", was a dud, it was rainy and cold, most of the artists and vendors did not show.....even the KETTLE CORN was not to be found! I was so bummed; so no pictures. :( .

Saturday night Beka, her bestie and her bestie's mom went to the Taylor Swift concert; they had a blast!

Sunday was rainy and cold, we stayed in the house and ate!!

Maid rites (aka sloppy joes, taverns) and brownies and ice cream (sorry, no picture; it was half way gone before I thought to take a picture!).

We also started on the mud room/ laundry area.  Oh, yes, you didn't know we we were going to demo that area too????? :)  I figured, we had that nice dump trailer I borrowed from work to tear down the shed, we might as well tear the paneling off the walls in the the mud room! :)  Hunny was alittle reluctant, knowing it was going to be more work than "just tearing off paneling"! :)  BUT.... I got him to agree, and so we tore into it! so sorry for the poor pictures, my camera has been givng me fits!

starting the demo.... When we redid the inside of the house when we bought it, we did nothing out here, but put in the floor. They put in new base moulding, but I never finished painting it! :)Oh, well, we are not going to save it, we are putting in new.

This room is really long or wide, how ever you look at it. It runs the same width as the whole house, my washer, dryer and freezer sit on one end  and then the bench and shelf were at the other end. See Beka's tie dyed projects! :)

This room has lots of doors, it has 3 doors and then a doorway into the kitchen!

I have been searching for inspiration for this room for a while; here's what I love!

I am excited to get started on it! The drywall is not bad, I was so glad that the paneling was not glued or I would have been in BIG trouble! I just need to have someone come and patch some holes and texture it! Thank goodness I work in the drywall business; I am hoping that I can get some co-workers here this week! :)

So, that's my weekend in a nutshell! Oh, I wanted to show you my flowering cranberry bushes are blooming, they are so pretty.

Okay, so off to work tomorrow for a short day, and then it's time to get ready for dance recital! Beka has pictures and stage practice tomorrow! :) Busy Busy!

This is a long post, I hope I didn't overwhelm you! :)  I'll keep you all posted on the mud room redo! :)

One more thing, there is this cemetary just south of town, it's just beautiful on Memorial Day, they line it with flags.  I always want to stop and take a picture; all I had was my phone, so it's not that great of a picture, and the wind was gusting up to 50 mph today!

Hope you had a nice weekend!

Take care!

what's going on~

hey, I am still here, i haven't left. just busy; you know how that is sometimes.

my hunny has been on vacation the last few days, he has accomplished tearing down the shed; remember i told you about our shed.  it's so yucky, i didn't want to show you, but I did show you these

here it is torn down.  the wood was so rotten and yucky, but i did manage to talk my hunny into letting me keep a board or two for sentimental value.....well... that and i want to use the old wood in the mud room/ laundry area; he just shakes his head at me, he just doesn't get it!

i didn't get a wiww (what i wore wednesday) done. beka had her last day of school yesterday.  she had her bestie stay over night and they tie dyed shirts for the Taylor Swift concert they are going to on Saturday.

i hope that you don't think that i have become this big snot, because i haven't commented on your blog posts.  some of them i can't, i am not sure what is going on, but i did see on google help that they are having trouble.  i have trouble commenting when i have to pick a google account in the drop down window when i comment.  so hopefully they will have it fixed soon.

tomorrow i have a short day and then a nice long weekend. i hope that the rain holds off and it's nice. saturday i am going to "art in the park", i will be sure and take some pictures, hope it's fun! they are going to have artists and games and KETTLE CORN- can you tell i love kettle corn ;).

have a nice evening!

remember these and a story~

Do you remember this and this ?  Well I have slowly started to put somethings in places around the house.

This is the large basket. I had a liner from another basket and it's on top of my hutch. I think I need something different in the basket, just haven't found it yet!

I LOVE the locker basket, for now it holds my laundry stuff. :)

I have some news I have to tell you about, about the building that I got all this "STUFF" from!  My hunny was in bed watching the news a week or so ago and I was down here on the computer.  I hear him hollar for me, I run up stairs and on the news is the building that we were in!!!! ON THE NEWS!!! This building is in a TEENY TINY little town about 9 miles from here and it made big time news.  OKAY.....the NEWS!!! They found HUMAN BONES in two bread bags in that building in all that stuff.  THAT STUFF I WAS DIGGING AROUND IN!!! Are you SCREAMING about now!!!! They were found in the are that I spent most of my time!!! EWWWWWW! There were toes, fingers and a leg bone!!! I couldn't believe it!!! They sent the bones off to Ames, Iowa to run tests on them to see if they could find out who it is; I haven't heard anything yet; I will fill you in when I find out!!! Oh, small town scandal; how exciting!!!

Anyway....enough excitement! I knew you'd love that! :)  I just noticed that this is my 100th post....whoooo hooo :)

clay tags~

So I have seen these clay tags around in blog land and on etsy. I LOVE them, I love how simple yet so pretty they are. There are so many great uses for them, I just love them! Anyway, I was at our local "dime" store/ "craft" store the other day and found some oven bake clay.  I thought maybe I would give them a try.

I tell ya....I may be hooked.  I love them; I just made a few to try, but I am definately going to make more.

These are so cute tied with twine around and old glass container

tied around a candle

Beka even made one, her's is the one with her name, she is going to glue a magnet on the back of hers.

If you want to check out some great ones, Jami over at  Freckled Laundry makes some awesome ones for her etsy store!

humming along~

I have yet to catch a picture, but the hummingbirds have been busy around here!  They are just so cute, I love to watch them buzz around; and they are so fiesty!!!

Recipe for hummingbird food.

Boil water and measure out 1Cup of water to the water add 1/4Cup of sugar. Stir to dissolve and cool in the fridge until cold.  Then pour into your feeder.

You will need to clean your feeder every couple of days.  I found this feeder at Walmart for around $5.00. I really like it because it all comes apart and you can wash it.

The water looks hazy, but it's because I just filled the feeder and the water was cold in the container.

It's cheap entertainment for us! :)

Hope you are all having a wonderful Saturday.  Beka hasn't moved from the recliner all day.  They had a lock in at school last night. They were up all night, swimming, bowling, movie and games!  I finally got some flowers planted, the sun decided to come out and play! :)

Take care.....Jodi

crepe paper flowers~

So, I have seen these around and I thought I would give it a whirl; crepe paper flowers, have you seen them?  They are sooooo easy and CHEAP! :)

These paper flowers can be used as decorations in a bowl, on the table, and they are really pretty on wrapped packages.  I could see the white ones on a wedding gift.  I am pretty limited to the colors of crepe paper I have here in town....as you can see....pink, purple and white!

Okay, so this is how it goes....I am so bad at tutorials, so please bear with me! :)

You start out with 3 strips of crepe paper 3 feet long.

Okay, not so hard, right! ? :)  So I made up a bunch, and had them ready.

Next, head to your sewing machine. Set your sewing machine on the longest stitch(loosen your tension), like what you would set it at to make a ruffle.

Then start sewing down the edge.  HINT..... Sew closer to the edge than what is shown here! Right away, you will start to see the crepe paper start to ruffle.

Ewww, blurry, sorry.  But this is how they will look, you don't have to pull your thread to ruffle, they will just do it on their own.

Okay, then take the flower and separate the 3 pieces, here i used a white with the purple, I thought that might look kind of different. After you separate them, then you start rolling them...... HINT....Don't roll too tight, let them be loose!

Ewww..... blurry again.....sorry, I was trying to multi task.... I am making supper at the same time as crafting.

See how loose it is? Don't worry, it works out.  You need to hot glue the end of the flower to the flower (does that make sense?) Then on the bottom you will hot glue a few pieces of crepe paper to the bottom.

You can also trim the thread.  Flip it over and waaallllaaa! You made a flower.

I like the white ones, how they are really spread out.  I think when I make more, I may try using more pieces instead of just 3 and see how that looks.  These would also look great on a wreath too.

So, I hope you try them, they are so easy and very cheap! Hopefully you can find more colors that I what I have available.  I can imagine lots of very pretty colors, maybe even use some green and make some leaves around the bottom???

Hope you had a great day; I better get back to supper!
