life on a saturday afternoon~

So how's your Saturday going?? Mine...pretty quiet.  Beka is at a friends house and my hunny....he has been out of town hanging with the boys.

He is on his way home from Waynoka, Oklahoma. He was doin what boys do; they were playing in the sand and being "safe" I am sure...I don't really want to know.  The last time he went he came home with  a broken collar bone!

Me...well this is what I have been up to on my quiet Saturday afternoon. I love tote bags and I thought that this one was really springy.

Happy Saturday afternoon, I am off to my sewing room.

So, there ya go. I told you I really don't have a style....jeans and t'shirts! My place of work is VERY relaxed, it's a drywall construction company; so the office is very easy going and has contributed to my style. They look at me funny if I come to work in anything else; but i am ready to try new styles! :)

I noticed tho, I need more flats(except my feet are always cold) and more accessories!

an afternoon off~

I took this afternoon off from work; I had a 1/2 days vacation left to use up.  Beka had her last day of spring break, so she had a friend over.  They were laying on the floor eating popcorn and oreos watching a movie when I got home; aaahhh, the life! :)

My afternoon went by so fast; how come it doesn't go that fast while at work. :)

I did manage to make some cupcakes and have supper ready when hunny got home. :)

I made strawberry cupcakes, from a box; I am a bake from a box girl! :)

I hope you had a great Monday!

having a ball~

I have always liked the decorative balls (what ever their technical term is??? :) ) that I have seen around like at Michaels and other craft stores.....like these

I have never bought any, I always think....I can make those. So, this weekend I decided to give it a try; my hunny took Beka to motocross and I got to stay at home :) .  So I already had some different sized styrofoam balls and some jute twine; but I bought at the grocery store some pinto beans, black beans and some split peas.

I started out with the twine.  I first placed some hot glue on the ball and started rolling the twine around the ball.

After burning my fingers and figuring I was done with the twine for a while, I tried the beans.

I still burned my fingers with the beans, but the pinto beans were easier than the smaller beans. I even tried putting the glue on the ball and then dipping it into the beans, that didn't work so well; so I went back to placing the beans on the glue instead.  I am thinking as I am doing this and the hot glue is burning my fingers; that maybe the next time I think .....I can make those.....It might be easier and less painful to just BUY THEM!!!! :)

In the end, I like how they turned out. I may try and find some other little seeds or something to make some more.....:) Maybe...:)

I also went to Walmart this weekend, guess what I found!!! Moss rocks! I got a box for $3.00!

I hope everyone had a very nice weekend; they go by so fast!

wiww~

Okay, so I have been over at the pleated poppy every wednesday for a while now, Lindsey has a What I Wore Wednesday post; everyone links up what they wore.  It started out for stay at home moms so that they were accountable for what they wore, no more sweats.  Well if you check it out there is alot of entries from stay at home moms to working moms.

I love clothes, and style, but I don't have alot of either! :)  But this is my first time and I have learned alot from hanging around there every week. :)  My pictures are terrible; I have yet to figure out how to take a self protrait in the mirror!  I don't have alot of outfits, and they are really not that great, but here goes!

Tank: Gap Outlet
Scarf: Oldnavy-old, never wore until now!
Cardigan: Eddie Bauer
Jeans: Big Star-Buckle
Shoes: Dansko clogs-Gift

Top-Walmart $4.00!!!
Scarf-Oldnavy- old
Jeans- Big Star-different pair
Shoes- black zebra flats- buckle-clearance $12

Shirt: Oldnavy-Note to self that this shirt should be tucked in, I look terribly heavy with it untucked
Tank: Oldnavy
Jeans: BKE-Buckle
Shoes: Keen

Okay, so there you go. I am not sure that I will continue to do this, I was running late everyday, because I had to take my picture; plus it could have been the time change that was causing me to run late. (wink wink) I have learned tho that so much really does go together than what I thought, layers are a good thing, I need more scarves, and more flats and boots.

taking care of business~

I have a little business to take care of, I should have done this when I did the kitchen reveal .  I have had several questions about how I went about painting the kitchen. But, before we continue, I want to THANK YOU for all the great comments I received on the kitchen; they were all so nice.

I love Benjamin Moore paint.  I have used it throughout the house; I love the colors and I love how it goes on. This is what I used for the cabinets.

The cabinets are the the wood ash, the walls are the blond wood and the trim moulding is the mayonnaise.

I got instructions from the store to lightly sand the cabinets with 220 grit sand paper just to scuff the surface to give the paint something to adhere to.  I wiped them down with a tac cloth to get all the dust off and then painted them 2 coats.  I started out using a foam roller, but was not happy with the little bumpy texture it left; I don't know if it was just my kind of roller or if they are all that way.  So, I used a good brush that I had purchased from the store; it's a Wooster brand nylon and polyester for the bristles.  I absolutely LOVE the paint, it went on so smooth, you DIDN'T see any brush marks at all. After i put 2 coats on one side of the doors, I let them sit overnight and then flipped them and repeat. :)

I didn't paint the inside of the cabinets them selves, but painted the shelf edges.  I reused my hinges, they were a dark antiquie color and they were close enough for me.  I replaced all the handles with new ones from Lowes they are a aged bronze finish.

The walls and trim paint are a pearl finish. I always get a pearl finish for the bathrooms, trim and kitchens; it cleans easier. I think Benjamin Moore is the only one I know that offers a pearl finish for paint.

I told you earlier that hunny's parents were coming over this weekend and I wondered if they would notice. They came over last night, they noticed and they liked it; I think hubby gave them a heads up; oh well. :)

And on another piece of business......

Emily over at Nest Nesting Nested nominated me for the

She has such a cute blog, you seriously need to check her out!

There are rules for receiving the award. If you remember I revealed some things about my self earlier. :)  I am going to totally break the rules, because I am a rebel like that! :)  I am just going to ask you to visit Emily she has a great tutorial right now on mouldings!

I hope that you all had a wonderful weekend. Did you remember to move your clocks ahead?

graphics and a blog~

I love looking at blogs, I can spend hours and hours just hopping around from blog to blog. So, I was hopping around and ran across Karen, she has a super cute blog and tons of great graphics that you can use for free! :)

I found this one for St. Patrick's Day.  I can see me using her graphics for so many crafty projects.

I also wanted to THANK YOU all for the super sweet comments on my kitchen and I also have some new great friends.  We are having hubby's parents over this weekend to visit, they have no idea what I have done, we'll see if they notice when they walk in. :)

drum roll, please........TADA~

The wait is finally over and the reveal is here. It seems like it's been forever; atleast for me; it's worth it tho, I really like the change.  It's definately different, and much brighter.  I still have some touching up to do, but I couldn't wait to show you!!! :)

Okay, before I let you look......lets remember what it used to look like~

OKAY......th cabinets actually look white in the pictures, but they are a cream color.

remember the scallopy thing,.....well...I kept it; what do you think?

I need to finish with some wall decor; I just need to find the "right" pieces.

My chalkboard door that leads to the basement; my daughter and her friend's creation. :)

Okay, so let me have it, tell me what you think; was is a good change?  I kind of wish now that the cabinets were alittle more creamier color and the walls a bit darker; but I like it.  It's very different for me with the lighter colors; it's SO not me to have picked out lighter colors, but I am in the mood for change!!!  So, I have already started to think of some other projects that incorporate some lighter colors....we will see; I don't know if my family is ready for another redo project for a while tho! :)
