easy no carve pumpkin ideas~

Do you have your pumpkins already? I am hoping to get mine this weekend, I am so behind, usually I have them the first of October! But anyway,....to carve or not to carve? We usually carve our pumpkins, but if you decide not to carve your pumpkins, here are some really cute ideas. I may just have to try a non carved pumpkin this year too. :)

Cute button pumpkin, just glue them on. Very Cute

Metalic pumpkins, the metalic colors are huge right now.

Duct tape pumpkins. Duct tape is all over in the craft stores with tons of great patterns, this is very cute

I like the chalk board pumpkins!

Just glue on some of your favorite candy in a cute pattern!
all photos are from real simple

Hope you have a wonderful weekend.

leaf garland~

Another project that I have been working on is a plaster leaf garland. I have seen these before and love them, so I thought I would give them a try. I had planned on making a few extras for my etsy store, but I have run out of time!

Items needed for project:
Plaster of paris
Artifical leaves, I got a garland from Michaels for a dollar and just cut them off the the garland, be sure to leave the stem.
Jute twine
Wax paper

What you need is some regular plaster of paris, mix it up in a container, I used a paint stick, I mixed it rather thin and work FAST!  I first tried painting it on w/ a brush, but ended up just dipping the leaves in the plaster and laying them out on wax paper. Let them dry and then tie short pieces of twine to the stem and then cut your garland piece what ever length you want it and then tie your leaves onto your garland voila!!! I love the white leaves and the twine.

I made a couple of the garlands, I have one on my hutch and then a small one on a book case.

So, if you get a chance to try it, you should I love them and will keep them up until Thanksgiving!
I am linking up to Lorie, she has an awesome blog with tons of great ideas, be sure and check her out!!  I am also liking up with Stephanie Lynn and her great Sunday Showcase Party there always some great entries there too!

cute little white pumpkin and more~

Remeber I told you that I was working on some projects this weekend? Well....the little white pumpkin is one of them. I had this little glass pumpkin, I think I got him at Michael's a few years ago.

I took some regular white acrylic paint and pour into the lid and into the pumkin.....let it dry over night and this is what i got! He has the look of milk glass! It is very cool, you can use it on any kind of glass and you can use any color you want!

Closer look at my white pumpkin.

I have also been trying to get my decorating all done,....it usually takes me forever, I fuss and fuss and move things around until finally I get the look I am looking for.

I put some putkapods( they are the little pods that look like little pumpkins, they are so cute, if you ever see any, you should get some, they are so cute and I save mine from year to year in a sealed bag.) in a lantern with a harvest candle.   I also used the putkapods in a big candle vase with my cream colored candle and then took artificial leaves (from Michaels for a 1.00) and lined the outside and tied them with jute twine (copied from Pottery Barn). :) I keep plugging away at my decorating, hopefully soon, I will be done! :)
I will be linking up with Jen and her weekend wrapup party and Stephanie Lynn for her Sunday Showcase!

out of my gourd~

My Mother in Law brought me a huge sack full of gourds last weekend, and I haven't decided what to do with them yet.  So, I did some searching and this is what I found.

You can guild them in gold....not sure I like this one too much....I am more of a "natural" girl!

I like this one with the candles, I love the green from the "hedge apples", they are so cool and supposedly keep the spiders and mice away if you have them in your house!

I think this would be cute on my front door.
I love this centerpiece, now this would look perfect on my dining room table, I would just need the tray to put it all in; I am sure I could make one; if I just knew how!! :)
Love them on candlesticks
Cute in buckets and crocks on the porch.
very clever as a votive holder
vase???? not sure this is for me either, but it's a cute idea!

I will have to see what I can come up with, there a bunch of really interesting ones!

what i did this weekend~

So this weekend I have been busy sewing, my poor husband came upstairs Friday night and said, "who are you?" I guess maybe I am spending too much time with my sewing machine and not enough with my family; I find I love it up in my sewing room, it's so quiet and gives me some "me" time.

But anyway, I am working on finishing up my trick or treat bags, I love how they have turned out.  I am planning on making more totes, bigger and some really cute prints, I can't wait!

So, with some of my left over scraps, i put together a cute halloween banner/garland. I have seen some of these around in blog land and I think they are so cute.  They are super easy to make I sewed the wrong sides together so it's the same on either side and then just pinked the edges, I had a 3 foot piece of black bias tape and sewed the top and voila!~

I am also working on a bunch of pillows. I am so in love with this pillow that I found a transfer and made my
own. I will be listing some of these in my etsy store, plus MORE!!!

My laundry is calling, I better shut off my sewing machine. Happy weekend all!

a cozy bed~

Now that there's a chill in the air, I am thinking there is nothing better than a cozy bed to snuggle into! I LOVE flannel sheets in the winter time, and usually can't wait till it gets cool to put them on.  Yup, my flannels are already on! I am in love with the last picture; it's from Eddie Bauer, I love the greens and the tan/cream color; which is what my bedroom is now; I am thinking I could just snuggle down in and sleep forever.

I love the warm colors in a bedroom, I like the looks of all white bedding, but in the fall and winter, I tend to go towards the warm colors; makes me feel warm I guess! :)

Happy sleeping!
