~getting my boo on~

I started on getting my fall and halloween stuff out, here is a small peek at what I got going on. My fall wreath, I got on on the front and one on the back door...I made them and love how they turned out. A small milk glass urn with buckeyes from our buckeye tree out back, (my Dad used to carry one years ago in his pocket for good luck) :)  My hutch is full of orange and white, it is all my Mom's Halloween decor; her birthday was on Halloween and so she had some really cool and old pieces; I got them after she passed away; sorry for the glare!
This guy was my Mom's also, he is probably atleast 40 years old! I remember when I was little I was always afraid of him, but now, I think he is the coolest!
This orange bowl was Mom's too, it too freaked me out a bit when I was little, but I love it now too; it's atleast 40 years old too!! I just love the "old"Halloween decor!!

I will be sure and post more pictures as I get them done. I am also working on more Halloween trick or treat bags and will be adding them to my Etsy shop, also I am working on some awesome pillows, I will be certain to show you!!!

going...going...gone!

Remember I told you I made an apple pie the other day.....well....

It didn't take long and it was........

gone!!!

So...I thought I would share the recipe. I have to tell right up front, I am not a cook, but I love to bake....that's my thing. Probably because I love to eat all things sweet and yummy! One thing tho I can't do is make pie crusts, my Mother in Law says, maybe your not old enough :) I should probably try again, afraid of failure, I guess or just hate to ruin a good apple pie to a yucky crust.

So, the filling is as follows; I actually got it from a Better Homes and Garden magazine years ago:

Heat oven to 425 degrees

3lb of apples-peeled and cut into chuncks- I use Gala apples, I love how they cook up.
1/2C sugar
3T flour
1tsp cinnamon
1/8tsp ground nutmeg
1/8tsp salt
1T lemon juice
2T butter cut up

After you have peeled and cut up your apples I put them in a large bowl and add the flour, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt and lemon juice.  Add to your crust and top with the cut up butter. Place your top crust on and brush with a egg wash and sprinkle with sugar. Place the pie on a baking sheet (I use a pizza pan) and bake at 425 for 15 minutes then turn temp down to 375 degrees for about 45 to 50 minutes or until your apples are tender.

This recipe is so easy and so yummy; even my hubby likes it better than his Mom's, shhh we won't tell her that tho!

The cooler weather and leaves turning has definately gotten me in the "fall decorating" mood; I am going to try and get some projects done this weekend.

weekend recap

This weekend was busy for our family.  We had Homecoming week this week with everyday was a different "dress day" and also squeezed in picture day too!  Beka marched in the Homecoming parade, she plays the flute.  It was so warm on Friday, poor girl was "cooking".

Later we went to the game, what an exciting game....we won by one point in overtime!

By Saturday morning, the weather had made a complete turn around, we went from 80's to 40's and rainy and cold. Rick ran his first 10k that morning in the town's celebration weekend!

There he is in the bright green shirt! They had the 2 mile and a 10k race! Only 4 finished the 10k and 1 finished the 2 mile.  Right after they started running, it was a down pour, them poor runners, I admire them tho! He did great and finished 2nd, I am so proud of him. Then after the race, we went home and cleaned up and Beka had to march again.

They had fun, but had to march in the rain!  We were all tired at the end of the day and ready to snuggle in for the evening!  I made chili and an apple pie.  YUMMMM!!!

Etsy

I have taken the plunge and started an Etsy store. I have a few things on there, (I have a link on the side of my blog), Halloween trick or treat bags for now, but I will expand to  pillows, baby blankets, aprons and holiday/ home decor.  I am very excited to be apart of Etsy, there are some very talented creators. I could easily spend hours and hours looking at everything. Be sure to check it out!!!

getting back into it

I am going to try this blogging thing again. I had a blog in the past Mouse Tales, it was fun, but also work to keep it up.  My computer got a nasty virus and was down for quite some time, it ended up getting completely wiped out, so I am starting all over!!! I hope for new and better things for my blog this time, so I would gladly have you follow me along!!!
